Choosing Canada: Gratitude and Hope with Amal Jerbi

Listen Later

Thank you so much Amal for sharing your story and your resilience and compassion with us on the playground today, and thank you dear listener for spending your time with us.

Here are the top 10 takeaways from our chat:

  1. Terre d’Asile – I had never heard about this before, but this is the organization that Amal worked with before migrating to Canada. The link will be in the show notes.
  2. Cesaria Evora – Amal has expanded my musical knowledge, there are more musicians other than Bruce Springsteen in the world!
  3. Africa is a stolen continent. She is so right.
  4. We talked about the countries with armed conflict and poverty (like Nigeria, Congo, Mali, Somalia, Ivory Coast and the civil war in Sudan.
  5. Immigrants and refugees are not the same thing, but most people may not know this.
  6. For Amal, justice is the pillar of society
  7. Amal is a passionate hard worker who never says no to learning
  8. Asylum seekers need a loud voice and although this was a sad topic, we were both happy to start the conversation
  9. She and her husband chose Canada because they wanted to move to a country that breathes freedom.
  10. Grateful for everyone she has been dealing with over the six months, she believes people need to have respect for each other and find common ground, while at the same time respecting each other’s differences.

What a chat! Thank you once more – merci beaucoup encore mon amie.

Looking forward to connecting with you on Instagram – you can find me at puddlejumpcoaching001.
