Today’s Scripture:
1 Samuel 16:6-7 NIV
When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:10-11 NIV
Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
People choose based on appearances. Today, people are chosen bade on talent, how they look, who they know, and their financial status. We see this all the time. Sometimes we don’t stand a chance because we don’t have the external stuff that warrants us to be chosen.
In our story, David was overlook, he was the one that was favored by men. He did not look the part, his brother Eliab looked the part and was handsome and beautiful, even the prophets thought that Eliab was the king. It was all based on how he looked. But the Lord said to Samuel I have not chosen him. Don’t look at his appearance; God said I have rejected him. God is looking at our heart's family. We are chosen by mercy. I am a witness of being chosen by mercy.
Family, you, too, are chosen by mercy. He chose you based on his mercy. When God’s mercy locates you, he will bring you from the back to the front. Mercy is a result of God's grace upon your life. No matter who has gone on ahead of you and has passed you by, God’s mercy has chosen you. You will be chosen at the right time in God’s timing. Whatever God has for you, no one can take it. The mercy of God chooses who he wants to choose. It is God’s grace upon your life.
Walk in the mercy of God today; you are chosen by God’s Mercy.
