Chosen To Carry God's Presence
Today’s Scripture:
1 Chronicles 15:2 NIV
Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister before him forever.”
The Levites were integral to carrying God's presence. This is important because the Levites were members of the tribe of Levi, chosen by God for specific religious duties. Their primary roles included assisting the priests (who were descendants of Aaron, also a Levite) in the tabernacle and later the temple, performing tasks such as maintenance, transportation of the ark and sacred items, and leading worship through music.
When you are chosen to Carry God's Presence it's not something we should take lightly. Today, you and I are chosen to Carry the presence of God. Back in the Old Testament, the ark of God or the ark of the covenant represented the presence of God. So wherever the ark of God was his presence was there and where God's presence was there was prosperity and peace.
There are requirements to be chosen as a carrier of God's presence. One of the most important requirements is consecration. You cannot carry the presence of God without being consecrated for this service. Consecration is required. What does it mean to be consecrated in this context? It means being set apart and made holy for a special purpose or service to God!
Today it involves Regular prayer, Bible study, and worship to cultivate a deeper relationship with God. It requires living a life free from sin, seeking God's forgiveness and grace to overcome weaknesses, and living in obedience to God's word.
