Barb Zablotney was paralyzed on impact in a motor vehicle accident when she was 21 years old. After a decade of struggling with depression, she won the title of Ms. Wheelchair Pennsylvania 2018 with the platform “Changing Ignorance with Education & Inclusion.” She went on to earn her BA degree in Disability Studies from William Paterson University and is currently pursuing her MA degree in Disability Studies at City University of New York School of Professional Studies. Barb is the Co-Founder and President of the South-Central PA Chapter of the United Spinal Association. Barb has been featured in media including the Tribune-Democrat, Windber Spirit, WJAC, WTAJ, Johnston Magazine, and Our Town. She is featured in a full-feature commercial with UPMC and is the first plus-size, visibly disabled model for the national retailer, Torrid. Additionally, Barb does consulting work for disability sensitivity training for providers of disabled people and those who design our environment.
