Today's episode features section hiker, Chris Burke. Chris started his avid hiking career in 1984 by thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail but soon realized that section hiking was more his cup of tea.
He has section-hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and is currently sectioning the Pacific Northwest Trail and Arizona Trail. He says people like to go hiking with him because he is a meteorologist and spent 30 years working for the National Weather Service.
"Let's Talk Gear" with Steve Kammeyer: Steve Kammeyer talks to us on today's episode about ice axes, microspikes, and crampons. Steve gives us some very valuable information but you should always do your own research, visit a local outfitter, get fitted properly, and practice using this type of equipment before heading out into the backcountry.
