Essendon Airport was privatised in 2001 (to a joint venture between Lindsay Fox and Max Beck) - Chris has been driving a transformation so that the airport and its surrounding Essendon Fields precinct have gone from employing just a few hundred people at the time of privatisation to now providing jobs for more than 6000 people. It recently opened the first Hyatt Place hotel in Australia with its own Conference Centre and the whole precinct has been developed into a major business park with seven centres of excellence - with plans to eventually provide jobs for up to 18,000 people.
