What You'll Hear: Grew up in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere Family called themselves Christian, but they had voodoo practices and beliefs as well It is man's natural state to be supernatural His mother made it a practice to speak to him from the book of Proverbs In his late 20's, in New York, he found himself in a temptation and thought of Proverbs 5 and ran out He said to God he'd give Him 5 years to prove Himself and it didn't take 5 minutes, "it took, a change and conversion happened" In addition to redemption, sanctification, we also have restoration, we're meant to be Jesus in our skin, and then we go through glorification and are perfect in all our ways Jesus came to make an exchange, life for life. He took our sins and gave us His life. The intent of the Father is that we replicate the heaven which we're from. As Jesus walked about, whenever he saw something that didn't look like heaven, He spoke a word to it and transformed it. We are to be the same. Our surroundings should get better while the world is getting worse First job was out of high school, working as a cashier for Arby's Restaurant, where he also first experienced racism in the workplace. They gave a math test to black people, not white people. He was fired when he questioned this. When he went to school in the U.S. he first got the idea that a black man can't be president, at that time. He went to the Univ of Miami as a pre-med/pre-law student with an athletic and academic scholarship. During the summer he was looking for something fun to do and answered an ad for acting/modeling and did very well. We have a tendency to ask God "what do you want me to do?" as opposed to "who do you want me to be?" Break 24:49 - next talk about pivotal event in his career and how it led to hardship and then to unexpected blessings Cam was offered a great starring role in his own series, but he was asked to do partial body nudity. Cam said no. They offered for him to have a body double, but he realized he couldn't do that either. He lost everything, was bankrupt and by himself. He left California to Atlanta, got remarried, and went into full-time ministry. The standard when we become saved is way beyond "the line". We shouldn't be close to the line. We are saved and redeemed from the law. Jesus fulfilled this. Because we are in Him, we fulfill it out of love, respect, and honor. There are still consequences of doing the wrong thing. He had a recurring dream that led to his wife speaking to someone that resulted in Cam getting another acting role that was a fulfillment of the dream God was giving him. After success with that role, he has since been in 24+ films in 7 years and hardly ever had to even audition. He is no longer attached to acting, he's attached to Christ and whatever is in Christ for him. Break 2 - 38:39 - Next talk about powerful lessons we can learn from the movie "Overcomer" and the character Cam played You can't condemn yourself. Every passes through the same way. We are all needing a Savior. The Father sent His Son to cleanse us. You are forgiven. Throw your sin away and let God make that real to you. Don't regret, don't let regret overtake you, don't let regret overwhelm you. We don't make things happen, we receive what has happened. It is God's pleasure to give us the Kingdom. Don't try to make an impact. Be a Christ man, whatever we're doing, and the impact that God desires will be made. Life itself is orchestrated by Him. All you have to do is answer every situation like Christ would. When bad things happen, think of the Garden of Eden. We were never to eat of that tree. We end up trying to figure out whether things are good or bad but we're not meant to do that. All He wanted us to know was to know Him. Our job is to read the word, hear form the Holy Spirit and obey. The meaning of entertainment is to captivate the mind, to take over your perspective. Every film you watch should allow you to take on characteristics that would honor God as a whole. Don't watch films that agitate our inner man, that disturbs your inner core. Don't compartmentalize your life. Your leisure and entertainment as well as reading is spent in a way that pleases God. Your life is no longer your own. The One who has purchased your life is the One who dictates how you live your life.
