What happens when our desire for security turns into a desire for control? 

In 1 Samuel 12, Israel has the king they asked for—and Samuel reminds them that they already had a King who had been faithful all along. Through every season, God had provided, protected, rescued, and remained with His people. The challenge wasn’t God’s faithfulness; it was their tendency to forget. 

In this message, we’re invited to remember who God is and what He has done, return when fear and control pull us away, and trust that He remains on the throne. When we remember God’s character and faithfulness, we can loosen our grip on the things we were never meant to control and find peace in the One who holds it all. 

God is King—and we are not. And that is incredibly good news.

Is anger always a bad thing? In 1 Samuel 11, we see one of Saul’s healthiest moments as king—when his anger over injustice moves him to protect others, while he refuses to let personal offense turn into bitterness or revenge. 

In this message, we explore the difference between righteous and unrighteous anger and what our anger can reveal about our hearts. What is fueling our anger? Is it rooted in love and a desire to protect others, or in fear, judgment, hurt, or self-protection? 

As we bring our anger honestly before Jesus, it can become an opportunity for God to work both in us and through us—moving us toward justice, healing, forgiveness, and a deeper reflection of His heart.

What happens when fear and insecurity begin to shape the way we see ourselves? In 1 Samuel 10, Saul has been chosen, anointed, and empowered by God to become Israel’s first king—yet when the moment comes to step into his calling, he’s hiding. His story reveals how fear, self-doubt, and insecurity can keep us from embracing who God has called us to be. 

But God doesn’t leave us in hiding. Through the Holy Spirit, we are reminded of a deeper truth: we are God’s beloved children. We don’t have to be defined by fear, failure, or the opinions of others. We can learn to see ourselves through the lens of our Father’s unending love.
