In our lives, we are often quite content to please ourselves. Yet when we turn to the Scriptures, we see the Lord Jesus Christ — One who consistently put others first and never lived to please Himself.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Romans 15:1-3 “15 But *we* ought, we that are strong, to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.2 Let each one of us please his neighbour with a view to what is good, to edification.
3 For the Christ also did not please himself;”
John 8:29 “29 And he that has sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I do always the things that are pleasing to him.”
2 Timothy 2:3-4 “3 Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.4 No one going as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of life, that he may please him who has enlisted him as a soldier.”
