The Sonship Place

Christ Fulfilled All Anointing Rituals · Monday Night Gatherings

Listen Later

Anointing is not a commodity that flows from a pastor, falls on a crowd, or transfers through oil. It is a person, and that person is the Holy Spirit already alive within every believer.

This introductory session opens a three-part series by drawing a clean theological line between Old Testament anointing as external consecration and New Testament anointing as internal reality. The teaching traces the concept of anointing to its first appearance in Genesis 28, where Jacob anoints a stone at Bethel, and argues that this physical act was always pointing toward something Christ would fulfill completely. Because anointing originated as the smearing of oil to set apart a place, a person, or an object for God's presence, and because God's presence now dwells within believers through the Holy Spirit, the ritual is not simply upgraded. It is finished. The series also confronts how anointing has been weaponized from pulpits as performance, elitism, and personal branding, and sets the theological record straight: anointing flows from the Head, who is Christ, not from any minister standing at a podium.

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 28:10-18

SERIES: Anointing. A three-part series tracing anointing from its Old Testament origins through its complete fulfillment in Christ, covering what anointing is, how it operates, and what it looks like to manifest it as a son.
