The resting place of God is not a building, a program, or a religious system. It is you, because the Father and the Son have come to abide in the believer through the Holy Spirit.
This teaching traces the logic of God's rest from Genesis 1 through to the New Testament. The argument moves through Colossians, Hebrews 1, and John 1 to establish that when God said "let us make man in our image," the image being referenced was Christ, not Adam. Adam was the body formed to carry the image and essence of God. The Father rested in creation because Christ, the image, and the Holy Spirit, the likeness and essence, were present. That same logic governs how sons enter rest now. Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it, and the teaching identifies that failure precisely: Moses attempted to use works to activate what grace alone can provide. The rock is Christ. The water is the Holy Spirit. Rest only comes by the word, not the staff, because in the beginning was the word, and faith is the word, and what law can only convert into works, grace completes.
SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:1-3, John 1:1-5, Colossians 1:15-17, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 3:4, Numbers 20:8-11, John 14:23
