In Session 3 of Church History we discuss how the churches respond to various persecutions from the Roman Empire. We also discuss the often misunderstood role of Constantine and how he influenced the history of Christianity. The people and events of the Council of Nicaea are discussed as well of the development of the Creed that developed. Finally, we close by looking at why many Christians became monks and nuns.
In Session 4 we discuss how the first four church councils wrestled with what Scripture teaches about the humanity and deity of Jesus. We also look at Augustine and how he stewarded the church through the fall of Rome and how Bishops such as John Chyrsotom, Leo, and the Cappadocians served the church even when earthly power had become the focus.
