After Jonah's attempt to avoid the commission of God failed, Jonah finds himself right back where the book began -- but this time, he obeys God's commission to preach to Nineveh. Within the very first day of Jonah's preaching, all of Nineveh repents, with the kings - nobles even issuing a decree towards that end. God accepts their repentance, and relents from destroying the capital of Assyria. Christians would do well to learn several lessons from this passage concerning- the Great Commission binding on all Christians, the nature of revival in our modern day, and the urgency of evangelizing the lost.
