This week is the first part of chapter five of Christianity and Liberalism, "Christ." In this chapter, Machen discusses the redeeming work of Jesus, the religion of Jesus, and Jesus' relation to sinful men. He defends the idea that the hypostatic union requires a kind of separation between us and Christ, if only for the reason that Christ was theanthropos, and we are not.
