The King's Hand in History

Christianity in World War Two (Ep. 32)

Listen Later

World War Two – the most devastating war of human history,

which shaped the modern world as we know it, and marked the recent high point in the influence of Christianity on western society. Not surprisingly, it was filled with the whole range of human expressions of evil, as well as countless examples of love, bravery, mercy, kindness, and forgiveness.

In this discussion, Chris and Casey give you a brief overview of the major events of the war, from the rise of Nazism in Great Depression Germany, to the surrender of Japan in 1945. Then, they retell some of the stories of the role that Christians and Christianity played in it. Three main topics are included:

1. The behavior of Christians in Nazi Germany, which was largely cowardly and complacent.

2. The bravery of many believers who risked their lives to protect Jews from the murderous Nazi's.

3. The role that Allied chaplains served in the encouragement, evangelization, and comfort of the troops.

Throughout the discussion, we point out ways in which God's almighty hand intervened in desperate situations, in order to allow the Allies to escape defeat, and ultimately gain victory over the Axis nations.
