Growing up in the church I had many found memories of my parents reading C.S.Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia out loud to my siblings and I before bed. Later I would go on to discover for myself J.R.R. Tolkiens The Hobbit and eventually The Lord of the Rings. However, I also have memories of my parents banning my brothers and I from reading or watching Harry Potter. I'm sure Ive described the childhood of many of you listeners just now. Fans of the show may have also notice I've condemned the rise of witchcraft and other pagan practices we see in our culture today. So the question needs to be asked, are Christians suffering from cognitive dissonance when it comes to how we handle magic? On this episode of Forge and Anvil I will be joined by author C.R.Wiley to try to answer this very question.
