Most of us can recite the story of the prodigal son from memory. After all it's a parable about how far you and I have turned from God, how we've ran far away and need his forgiveness... isn't it? Or is it possible, that when Jesus was telling this story He meant for us to focus on the Father? His arms stretched wide open as his runaway son returned. His eagerness to welcome him home with a kiss and a celebration. Maybe the story of the Prodigal Son is actually more about the Father who loved him through it all.
