A warm greeting to everyone in this beautiful #Music community. I am pleased to share my trumpet interpretation of "Christmas Time Is Here", a smooth jazz song composed by Vince Guaraldi and Lee Mendelson for the 1965 television special A Charlie Brown Christmas. I remember that, as a child, I loved reading comic strips, and one of my favorites was Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. On weekends, I would wake up very early and enjoy watching the animated version. Who doesn’t remember characters like Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the other kids? I really liked its humorous tone and the reflections they shared. Another comic I loved reading was Quino’s Mafalda. The lyrics of this song talk about the arrival of Christmas and how it is a time of joy, peace, and togetherness. Recently, I heard a comment that made me laugh a lot: they said that American music was depressing, and well, that contrasts greatly with our folk Christmas music.

Tengo el agrado de compartir mi interpretación con la trompeta de «Christmas Time Is Here», una canción de género jazz suave compuesta por Vince Guaraldi y Lee Mendelson para el especial televisivo A Charlie Brown Christmas en 1965. Recuerdo que, de niño, me encantaba leer historietas y una de mis favoritas era Peanuts de Charles M. Schulz. Los fines de semana me levantaba muy temprano y disfrutaba viendo la versión animada. ¿Quién no recuerda a personajes como Charlie Brown y su perro Snoopy, Lucy, Linus y otros niños? Me gustaba mucho su tono humorístico y las reflexiones que compartían. Otra caricatura que me encantaba leer era Mafalda de Quino. La letra de esta canción habla de la llegada de la Navidad y cómo esta es un tiempo de alegría, paz y unión. Hace poco escuché un comentario que me dio mucha risa: decían que la música gringa era deprimente, y bueno, eso contrasta mucho con nuestra música folclórica navideña.

This song reminds us that Christmas has come to stay in our hearts. I love Christmas because it is a time of joy. All it takes is to open our eyes like children and walk with the same excitement and innocence. I remember one time, when we were children, we were waiting for the arrival of baby Jesus, and Christmas Day passed and the gift didn’t arrive. It was very sad, and the explanation we were given was that it would be delayed due to financial problems. In Venezuela, as in Latin America, we look forward more to the birth of Christ than to Santa Claus. Recently, due to the impact of globalization and commercial influence, some generations write to Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas. Finally, the days went by and we awaited the Three Wise Men, which is another tradition where there are gifts. When we opened the presents, we found a pair of portable radios that reminded us that we had not been forgotten. I hope that this Christmas no child is left without gifts, no matter how big or small they are. The most important thing is the reason we celebrate it: the birth of the Son of God.

Esta canción nos recuerda que la navidad ha llegado para quedarse en nuestros corazones. Me encanta la navidad porque es un tiempo de alegría. Solo basta abrir nuestros ojos como niños y caminar con la misma ilusión e inocencia. Recuerdo en una oportunidad que, siendo niños, esperábamos la llegada del niño Jesus, y paso el día de Navidad y el regalo no llego. Fue muy triste, y la explicación que nos dieron es que se demoraría por problemas económicos. En Venezuela como en Latinoamérica esperamos más el nacimiento de Cristo que a Santa Claus. Recientemente, debido al impacto de la globalización y de la influencia comercial es que algunas generaciones le escriben a Santa Claus o San Nicolas. Finalmente, pasaron los días y esperamos los reyes magos que es otra tradición donde hay regalos. Al abrir los regalos encontramos un par radios portátiles que nos hizo recordar que no habíamos sido olvidados. Espero que en está navidad ningún niño se quede sin regalos, no importa cuan grande o pequeño sea. Lo mas importante es la razón por la cual la celebramos: El nacimiento del Hijo de Dios.
