Back to Acts after Advent & Christmas! Acts 13 picks up with Barnabas and Saul being sent out on their first missionary journey—not by the church, but by the Holy Spirit.

We see worship and service unified. We see the laying on of hands. We see a bittersweet sending—joyful but sad to see brothers leave. Most importantly, we see that this is CHRIST'S mission, not ours.

Along the way, Paul confronts Bar-Jesus, a false prophet and magician who opposed the gospel. God strikes him blind. Some ask: "Isn't that unfair?" Wrong question. The right question is: "Why didn't God do ME like He did Bar-Jesus?"

It's easy to forget what we DESERVE versus what we've RECEIVED. We've received mercy. Grace. We once worked against the gospel too—but by the power of the Holy Spirit, we've been grafted in.

We live on mission because we serve a MISSIONAL GOD. From Genesis 3 forward, God has been running TO us while we run away. Our God CAME to us. That's why we go.
