Chromatic Scale Shift Grade 8 Pod-Class 3 Fingering Notes Free Online Classes with Sarnia
Preparation for the Elegie.

right so our next uh little um practice for the chromatic scale is uh involving a shift now for the elegy we need lots of shifts and lots of um agile movement around a lot of dexterity so i just wanted to split the chromatic scale from the grade 8 up into starting on this open a and to

i just want to sort out that shift um actually don't uh do a vibrato it's very bad when you're doing your scales to do a vibrato i want to keep it dead we want to know that you're in tune um so let's let's just do that so we're on an open uh i mean you should shouldn't need to look at um music to do this but when you're learning the fingering especially if you like me you've done a lot of airplaying and i've got massive uh massive gaps because um when you play with a band you tend to just kind of do your thing you know and play by ear so the the fingering is some of this fingering it needs to be learnt it needs to be deeply embedded in your inner psyche so open a b-flat c c-sharp

and then you're going to so this is the really important bits um from the c sharp d e flat and then to the e natural one two three one one two three one

do you see so please please please

practice that um it's laborious it's a bit boring but this is so useful and if you can you want to do it do it on a slur because we're going to use lots and lots of slurred bow movements in our rendition of our 30-day practice session so the next

etcetera i will do um presently um time permitting uh so yeah practice practice practice it's exciting isn't it i'm very very excited it's almost like if you do all the prep exercises you're just gagging to start darling's gagging to start and i think that's really good to build up some psychological um interest and excitement for but hold back don't um overwhelm yourself early hold back hold back hold back get really good keep checking in the mirror check those straight bows check everything over and over again go back do things go back to you know go back to suzuki book one even and just check that you're doing everything properly check your ear listen to the recording okay back later
