Merrick Brown is a DJ, producer and vinyl collector that has played an essential role in the American music scene since the mid-90s, first in Texas, and now in Chicago where he's lived since 2007. He’s worked his way from illegal warehouse/loft parties to clubs, festivals and radio, playing freeform and spontaneous DJ sets that feature both rare grooves and future classics. Connecting the dots between soul, disco, jazz, Detroit techno, broken beat, deep house and beyond, the musical journey he takes listeners on is deep, uplifting, and inspiring. You can hear these influences in his production work and remixes on labels such as his own Tektite Recordings and Chalant Music, as well as Subplot, Aathee, A Colourful Storm and more. Catch him hosting “Music For Life” on Chicago’s Lumpen Radio and his regular club night by the same name, along with regular appearances at the legendary SmartBar, showcasing the best new and classic underground sounds from around the globe.
