In our 51st minute of CHILD'S PLAY, we don't have jokes as we deal with a largely unnecessary inclusion and tackle it from several angles: it has no bearing on the rest of the story, Karen has nothing to say about it, Norris uses his save to clumsily segue into exposition, how precisely brief the actual moment of assault is and how easily it could be cut, how Norris lets the assaulter go free, how the homeless community pose a bystander issue, and ultimately how injecting real world horror into an otherwise cozy slasher just feels egregious.
