WHAT IS A WORLDVIEW? A worldview is a comprehensive perspective of the world from a specific standpoint. It determines how we view the world around us, and interpret what's happening in it.

Definitions

people (2 Tim 3:2)(Gk) anthropos - Anthropology; general population

sin (2 Tim 3:6)(Gk)

harmatia - mistake; error; wrong thinking

be prepared (2 Tim 4:2)(Gk) ephistemi - to stand firm; military term to remain at ones' post

myths (2 Tim 4:4)(Gk) mythos - Fiction; made up truth

Gnosticism- From the Greek, gnosis, meaning "knowledge." A worldview approach that emphasizes immediate/innate knowledge and group identify. Truth does not need to and often CANNOT be confirmed, it just needs to be experienced by the person/group. Group truth cannot be challenged by someone outside of the group.

MAIN POINTS

The culture will develop a strong aversion to real truth

Christ followers must remain faithful to receive and proclaim the Word of God

As Bible truth confronts secular world-views, persecution is inevitable
