Well we come now to the third of the seven churches of Revelation. This church is sometimes referred to as the worldly church, or the church which needed repentance. Then you might also say it was the church at Satan's throne. But I will remind you again that these churches in revelations were actual churches they did really exist. This time it is the church at Pergamum. What will see here in this church is a church fascinated in compromise. What we need to take notice of it that this compromising church had come to believe that it could be both a church of God and yet it could also disregard the need to condemn the sinful behavior of the worldly lifestyle. This is common today as churches seek to appeal to more people at the expense of the true message of the gospel. If you will look very closely at this church you should easily see that it is a church which refused to separate its self from the world. Just as would be seen an person who says I am a believer, I am a Christian, yet in practice they have fallen in love with the world and will not part from worldly their ways. See it is crucial to recognize that it is the individuals who make up the church who are the body. It is the people who make the church what it will be. It will be a church dedicated to its first love, it will be a church which is strong because it is persecuted, sadly it maybe a church which sees no need to be separated from the ways of the world.
