In the first full, proper episode of this series, Nicole finally gets to discover who Sean Avery is—and why she's being forced to learn about him. We explore the whole continuum of Hockey Decorum, including: how quickly you can alienate 28 teams in a 30-team league, how to navigate situations of you or your opponents marrying a sister-in-law, and the kind of violation of established norms that forces them to change the rulebook on your behalf.

I'm not currently in a place where I can record any interjections, so here are a few addenda/corrections:

• This episode was recorded in May. I am fully aware that, yes, the Oilers did fail to win the Cup again this year.
• Stan Bowman was the General Manager of the Blackhawks, and now of the Oilers. I don't know why I overthought that.
• The former Chicago Blackhawks video coach, Brad Aldrich, "has never faced charges for his alleged abuse of Blackhawks players, but in December 2013, he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in a case involving a 16-year-old high school hockey player in Michigan. Prosecutors dropped a felony count. Aldrich was released from jail in 2014." [Source: Global News]
• As far as I can tell, no one was eliminated in Week 1 of Dancing With The Stars. So, that means Avery was eliminated at the first possible opportunity.
• The notorious incident with Brian Trottier and Kevin Stevens yelling misogynist and homophobic insults at Brian Bellows was from the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals, not the early 1980s.
