Though we are entering the post-Trump years, we are still feeling the residual effects of the previous presidency’s unabashed racism and call for violence. This is nothing new, but just as there have been people, organizations, and institutions that have incited hatred and violence, there have always been communities that have opposed and fought against it.
The purpose of this episode is to share the history of Cinco de Mayo, its roots in community organizing, the celebration of democracy, and the fight for racial equality. We need this information to be known, shared and celebrated by everyone.
