Cindy Coyne is seeking the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in Rhode Island. She's a former state senator and state trooper.

Coyne talked with NBC 10's Gene Valicenti on "Gene Off Script" about her experience and why she thinks the office of lieutenant governor is underutilized.

She also talked about public safety and a potential ban on assault weapons.
