CinemaTAKE: The Alternative Kinetic Experience continues its mission of using cinema as an educational and empowering tool for youth in Thokoza, Johannesburg. Co-founded by Emilie Demon, Muriel Huet, and Mpumelelo Mcata, the project has gained international recognition, particularly through its participation in the Cinéma cent ans de jeunesse (CCAJ) festival. Building upon the success of previous years, our 2025 project will explore the theme “Individual, Group, Community”, delving into how cinema can capture the tension between the collective and the individual experience. TT is in conversation with Mentor at CinemaTAKE, Mpumelelo Mcata.
