Danielle Densley Tingley is a Professor of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sheffield, her research focuses on how to reduce the embodied carbon of our buildings. Today, cement alone accounts for 8% of the world emissions - which is actually more than cars! If we are to move to a low carbon economy, we inevitably won't be able to stop just at operational energy, we will need to also find the methods to reduce embodied energy down to zero also.
