In the headlines, we have come across the names of taverns that are linked to loss of life due to noncompliance: Enyobeni Tavern for underage drinking. This week, one of our callers shared his concern surrounding the mushrooming of taverns in his neighbourhood of Chiawelo, and how operators are not compliant with liquor trading requirements or the municipal by-laws which places many at risk. 

We have brought together a panel that represent liquor trade associations, provincial liquor board and alcohol harm experts to help us navigate the challenges facing communities. We will also discuss what citizens can do to report operators who
are not compliant and the role civil society is playing to hold provinces accountable when it comes to compliance. We are joined by….
