The city is absolutely important to God. He designed the city and works through the city to bless the nations of the world. Unfortunately, many Christians today in our American culture tend to run from the city to pursue safety and chase the American Dream in the suburbs, leaving behind the lost and broken of the city who need the presence of biblical Christians who bring common grace and proclaim saving grace in the power of the Spirit. In this sermon, we survey the Bible to see how God is the God of the city and wants to redeem the cities of the nations for His glory. We reflect upon the final book of the Bible, Revelation, and see how the consummation of human history involves God bringing a city from heaven to the earth to bless the creation.
