  • Basil and Georgia and Gauls, oh Moy!

After an accidental but enjoyable summer hiatus, the podcast is back and resuming more regularly scheduled programming. This week, with very special guest and streamer extraordinaire MoySauce, we've got quite the sampler platter of topics including the nuances of streaming and content creation, more discussion of single-player VS multiplayer, Secret Societies, Dramatic Ages, and the newly released Byzantium and Gaul. Oddly, Tamar and Georgia once again come up for discussion. It's like... It's like I was right, and Georgia is actually an awesome Civ or something...

    Links!

December 20th. The Civ Give. Great game, great players, great cause. Mark your calendar, you filthy barbarians.

  • Interview With a Pendin (Part 3 of 3)
Finally! The light at the end of the Season Pass tunnel. We finally get on top of Envoy bonus changes and how they alter or affect your openers. ... yes, we're back on openers again. We also discuss the AI's love for catapults, using Missionaries and Builders as Scouts, The Amani Bounce, when to send Envoys and when not to, which Secret Societies are our favorites and how they affect gameplay. Ley Lines! Cultists! Vampires! Oh my! And a little love, once again, for TheCivShow.

  • Pendin 2: Ethiopian Boogaloo (Part 2 of 3)
We finally get around to discussing New Teddy, New Catherine, and New Ethiopia. We briefly discuss Secret Societies, but save most of that for Part 3. Additionally, we touch on some general strategy tips, alternative economies, when to chop VS when not to, and strategies for balancing tile improvements and district placement. Near the end, enjoy us both realizing, in real-time, that this has become a three-parter.

  • A Funny Thing Happened on The Way to The Pendin (Part 1 of 3)
What was intended to be a breakdown of the Ethiopia and Secret Societies pack quickly becomes something even better. Maybe. IDK. You be the judge. It's our first three-parter, folks! Our first MEGASODE.
On this episode, we discuss how the game has changed from Civ 2 to Civ 6, military positioning, opening strategies, Apocalypse Mode and Soothsayers, the meta love for Simon Bolivar VS the meta hate for Tamar, how to deal with barbarians, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, The Society for Creative Anachronism, Rome, and spearmen. We talk about spearmen far too much. Anyway. Parts 2 and 3 coming soon!
Thanks to Pendin for giving me his time not only today but tomorrow as well! Part 2 will be a deep dive into The Persona Pack and Ethiopia. Part 3 will cover the Secret Societies game mode, the Diplomatic Quarter, and the associated balance changes also released with the update. Enjoy!
