With new technology, we're finding that potentially millions of people lived in cities deep in the Amazon jungle before Europeans ever landed in South America. Literal cities the size of Rome or Athens existed and have now been swallowed by the jungle. No one, except possibly uncontacted native tribes has seen what's really on the ground.
