Listen Later

A South African GP is waiting one and a half years to sit her Kiwi medical exam.
This comes amidst a wide GP shortage.
Claire Terblanche immigrated to New Zealand last year but can't sit her second exam til March next year due to limited space on the three-times a year exam.
She has 14-years experience as a GP in South Africa but is working in insurance administration while waiting for a place.
Claire Terblanche told Mike Hosking after sitting the exam, she'll have to work as an intern for another two-years.
"In terms of treating patients, you have a heart attack in New Zealand, you have a heart attack in South Africa we treat you the same."
