Clara Barton was known as the Angel of the Battlefield & was the founder of the American Red Cross.  But this truly captures just a fraction of what she accomplished during her lifetime: she was a pioneer in American education, was an early female working in the US Federal Government, & served in many humanitarian responses to wars & natural disasters.


“The Lady With the Lamp,” Florence Nightingale, was a statistician, social reformer, & founder of “The Lady With the Lamp,” Florence Nightingale, was a statistician, social reformer, & founder of modern nursing.  After cutting British fatalities by ⅔ during the Crimean War, she was hailed as a national hero, transformed the nursing profession, & wrote the first textbook on nursing.
