In recent headlines, Anthropic has fired back at Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang over his claim that the AI startup thinks “AI is so scary and expensive that nobody else should do it.” Over the weekend, Huang said Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei believes only his team should build powerful AI, warning it could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs and send unemployment soaring.

Anthropic responded swiftly: “Dario has never claimed that ‘only Anthropic’ can build safe and powerful AI,” the company told Tom’s Hardware. Instead, Amodei has advocated for a national transparency standard so the public and policymakers can understand AI’s risks and prepare accordingly.

Huang, who says he “pretty much disagree[s] with almost everything” Amodei has said, insists AI development must happen openly—“Don’t do it in a dark room and tell me it’s safe,” he argues.
