I have known Aishwariyaa for over 2 decades. It was only during the 5 or so years that I learnt that Aishwariyaa is a writer.
Not just a writer, a novelist who has published 2 books - Beyond the Shores of Home, and The Mandarin Rose. And she’s working on the third one.
It's funny how when you’ve known somebody for a while, and then you uncover what feels like “hidden” talents.
In any case, I thought it would be an interesting conversation to have with her and learn more about Aishwariyaa, the novelist.
Aishwariyaa joins me on the Clear Mumble Podcast to talk about how she started writing, her 2 novels, the writing process, the characters in her stories, being published by Penguin, the joys and challenges of writing, and advice for budding writers.
Hi5s: At the start of Podcast, I have curated Five Highlights from the Podcast for you. It is a ~5 minute listen.
Our Guest: Aishwariyaa Ramakanthan is a novelist and writer who lives in the Bay Area and Singapore. She is the author of "Beyond the Shores of Home" and "The Mandarin Rose".
Memorable Quote: “... even when I'm reading a novel that I like, or anything, even non fiction, I always ask myself, okay, how would I say this, you know? And then I like to kind of doodle with that, you know, how I would say the same thing. And to me, that's very it keeps you very engaged.”Aishwariyaa Ramakanthan.
