THE MURDER-SUICIDE OF WRESTLER
CHRIS BENOIT AND HIS FAMILY.
The official account of the Chris Benoit tragedy is a murder-suicide. Over June 22–24, 2007, in their Fayetteville, Georgia home, the WWE wrestler (age 40) killed his wife Nancy (43) by strangulation on the 22nd, suffocated their 7-year-old son Daniel on the 23rd, placed Bibles next to their bodies, and hanged himself with a weight machine cable on the 24th. Police discovered the bodies on June 25 after WWE requested a welfare check due to Benoit missing events.
Benoit had sent texts and voicemails claiming family members had food poisoning, which were later seen as attempts to buy time or cover his actions. No other suspects were pursued, and authorities ruled it a familicide.
