In this episode, we’ll meet Clever Hans – the horse who could read, do maths and tell the time in early 20th Century Germany as well as his trainer Wilhelm von Osten.

Clever Hans appeared to breach the gap between humans and animals until Oskar Pfungst held a commission in 1907 in order to try and disprove the horse’s skills.
