The UN climate change conference in Katowice, Poland starts Monday. Delegates from around the world are meeting to hammer out rules for implementing the Paris Agreement, which seeks to limit global temperature rise by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This meeting comes on the heels of a number of major reports that show climate change is already happening and spell out the dire consequences of inaction. We start this hour with E&E reporter JEAN CHEMNICK who will preview of the UN conference. Then, we turn to the recent Fourth National Climate Assessment, which lays out the financial, environmental, and human costs of climate change in the United States. ROBERT KOPP, Rutgers University climate scientist will fill us in on the findings. Lastly, we’ll hear about carbon capture and storage technologies that may be needed in the fight against global warming. Princeton professor of ecology STEPHEN PACALA joins us.
