Maria Trifonova is a lecturer at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", where she coordinates the master's program "Energy Markets and Services". As a researcher, she also participates at national and international applied research in the field of energy economics and policy. She graduated Economics and Business at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Throughout her professional career she has been analyzing the technological and socio-economic development of the energy sector. She was the program director of the Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association. Maria has studied the energy transition in various European countries as part of the team of the European Institute for Energy Research (EIFER) in Karlsruhe, Germany. In her dissertation she analyzes the role of institutions for the development of the RES sector in selected European countries.
