Climate Thursday: Riverkeeper Samantha Krop on Water Quality Testing After Chantal’s Floods

Listen Later

Neuse River Basin Riverkeeper Samantha Krop joins 97.9 The Hill News Director Brighton McConnell on Thursday, August 14. Following Tropical Depression Chantal’s intense rain and floods, Krop was out in Orange and Durham counties at the Eno River to take water samples and test its quality. She discusses her initial response with Sound Rivers and the importance of the organization’s water quality efforts locally due to monitoring gaps at the state and federal government levels. Plus, Krop shares her broader takeaways from the storm and what it reflects about the region’s flood preparedness in an age of severe weather.
