Spencer West is 40 years old and is from Toronto, Canada. Spencer is a double amputee and lost both his legs from the pelvis down at the age of five.  He was born with Sacral Agenesis which is a rare birth condition characterized by partial or complete absence of sacrum and lower lumbar spine.  In the first part of the episode Spencer shares how growing up without legs affected his life and his parents lives. Halfway through the episode Spencer talks about his college experience and what it was like for him to come out while living in Salt Lake City. He also opens up about what is was like to come out to  his parents.

The later half of the episode is focused on Spencers accomplishments. Spencer is a world renowned motivational speaker for social change. He is also the author of the book Standing Tall. Spencer climbed and reached the peak Mt. Kilimanjaro while raising money to bring clean water to people in Africa. He also went on tour with Demi Lovato and spoke in every city that she went to.
