There's not much Party Favorz can contribute to the Taylor Swift canon other than she's one the world's greatest all-time songwriters and the voice of the millennial generation that's sold over 200 million records worldwide. Frankly, this achievement doesn't even begin to define her contributions to the music industry and the power and stature she's built allowing her to call the shots in an industry dominated by men.
While there are several inductees into our Diva Hall of Fame that have the same gifts and business instincts like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and Madonna to name a few — none have accelerated so far, so fast as this very young prodigy who moved to Nashville at age 14 to start her career.
She is also one of the rare artists that have successfully bridged the gap between the CD era and streaming while maintaining her ability to top the Billboard charts with their new convoluted ranking system. Considering how flawed their methodology is and how easily it's manipulated — that's no easy feat.
Much like the women mentioned above, Taylor Swift has built a massive and loyal gay following. That's no surprise because gay men have always gravitated toward strong women. Write songs about loss, love, and heartache and we're right there with you.
For the uninitiated, the Diva Hall of Fame consists of women that have made generally (not always) massive contributions to the place we gay men live — the dance floor. Over the years, there have been official remixes for several of Taylor's biggest hits but it was only recently that she began stepping up her remix credentials upon re-recording her back catalog from Big Machine records after losing the master rights to her former manager.
Volume I of this induction focuses heavily on these releases along with some previous official remixes that were aimed at her gay fans. The second volume consists of some official remixes but also many stellar bootleg remixes showcasing how well her music translates into other genres like Dubstep, EDM, Trap, Future House, House, and NuDisco. It's like her songs were built to be festival anthems even if not intended.
It's with great pleasure that Party Favorz recognizes the talent and artistry of the fabulous Taylor Swift and finally inducts her into the Diva Hall of Fame. I realize it was long overdue but the wait was worth it. ENJOY!
