Confessional Moments — WCF 3.2: Written Before the Worlds Began

Westminster Confession of Faith 3.2

“Although God knows whatsoever may or can come to pass, upon all supposed conditions; yet hath He not decreed anything because He foresaw it as future, or as that which would come to pass upon such conditions.”

In this episode, Pastor Tim reflects on the doctrine of God’s eternal decree—written before the worlds began—and explains why God’s purpose is not based on foreseen human actions but arises from His own wise and holy counsel. This episode highlights how WCF 3.2 protects divine sovereignty, upholds human responsibility, and grounds the believer’s confidence in God’s unchanging will.
