Westminster Confession of Faith 6.2
“By this sin they fell from their original righteousness and communion with God, and so became dead in sin, and wholly defiled in all the faculties and parts of soul and body.”
In this episode of Confessional Moments, we continue our study of Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 6, paragraph 2. This paragraph explains the immediate consequences of the fall: the loss of original righteousness, the breaking of communion with God, spiritual death, and corruption that extends to every part of human nature.
Using Genesis 3, we consider how sin first manifests itself not merely in disobedience, but in alienation—fear replacing fellowship, hiding replacing communion. This doctrine humbles us, warns against shallow views of sin, and directs us to Christ, the only Savior who restores communion with God and gives life to the dead.
