Yesterday the CME halted all metals trading on its Globex platform. For over 90 minutes, you could not trade a single metals futures contract.

Their explanation: "technical issues." Tomorrow is March First Notice Day — when contract holders demand physical delivery of their silver and gold. This is the third metals disruption in one month.

COMEX silver deliveries doubled last year. 98% of February contract holders stood for physical delivery. London silver lease rates hit 39%. Shanghai silver is trading at a 13% premium over Western spot.
