Li Jiannan, a China Media Group (CMG) reporter in Tabriz, Iran, reports growing tension on the ground as the Israel-Iran conflict escalates. Since June 17, internet access via both Chinese and Iranian SIM cards has been cut, and security has tightened with increased checkpoints and fuel rationing. On his journey from the border, Li witnessed destroyed factories hit by Israeli air strikes.
Amid the unrest, stories of solidarity among Chinese nationals stand out. From students helping transfer personal devices, to expats offering evacuation advice via WeChat groups, and local business owners providing on-the-ground support – Chinese communities are uniting to help one another. Many have already evacuated, with continued support from the Chinese embassy. In these uncertain times, quiet acts of kindness offer hope and strength.
