CNN being called out for showing Bethesda's Fallout game computer terminal in a video about the Russian election hacking. In a recent investigative report video, CNN used footage from the videogame Fallout’s hacking mini-game as B-roll to illustrate reports of recent, real-life hacks committed by the Russian government. The footage occurs while the presenter discusses President-elect Trump’s reaction to Moscow’s alleged involvement in what the White House has called “Significant Malicious Cyber-Enabled Activities.” In an age where the hot-button issues include the dis-reputability of "fake news,"the worry is these events will discredit the cause at hand. (This isn't the first time similar material has been used and subsequently called out: Several years back, a report by the BBC used the UNSC symbol from Halo while talking about the United Nations. Child soldiers from the Metal Gear games have been used in news stories about actual child soldiers.)
