Calories in vs. calories out (CICO) has been debated in fitness and nutrition circles for decades. Is weight loss really just about eating less and moving more? Or is there more to the story?
In this episode of the Co-Movement Gym Podcast, Andrew breaks down the truth about CICO — why it’s biologically true, why it’s so controversial, and the major misunderstanding that has led to decades of confusion and bad weight loss advice. Using a powerful “money in, money out” analogy, he explains the difference between descriptive and prescriptive thinking, and why “eat less, move more” fails so many people.

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy are everywhere—and so are the opinions. In this episode, Andrew breaks down what GLP-1 actually is (a natural gut hormone), how GLP-1 medications work, and why newer “dual agonist” options like Mounjaro/Zepbound tend to produce bigger weight-loss results. We also tackle the controversy: is obesity a disease, and are GLP-1s “taking the easy way out”?
You’ll hear a coach’s perspective from years in the trenches—why weight loss is effortless for some people and brutally hard for others, what typical results look like, common side effects, why many people stop, and what usually happens when you discontinue the meds.

The sauna is one of the most powerful, research-backed tools for improving cardiovascular health, brain function, athletic performance, and longevity.
In this episode, Andrew breaks down the science behind sauna use, including why regular sauna sessions can reduce cardiovascular mortality by up to 50%, improve blood pressure and cholesterol, boost endurance performance, enhance recovery, and support long-term brain health.
We also explore how heat exposure triggers heat shock proteins, growth hormone release, increased red blood cell production, and improved detoxification—plus why sauna works best after your workouts, not before.

Peptides are everywhere in the health & performance world—but what are they actually? In this episode, Andrew breaks down what peptides are, why they’ve exploded in popularity, and what research has and hasn't been done.
We'll e go deeper on two of the most talked-about peptides: BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound) and GHK-Cu (copper tripeptide). We cover what they’re commonly used for (tendon/ligament recovery, wound healing, gut support, skin and hair), the proposed mechanisms (inflammation regulation, nitric oxide support, angiogenesis, collagen/elastin signaling), and circumstances where Andrew would recommend avoiding them (active cancer or a strong cancer concern due to blood vessel growth signaling).
If you’ve been hearing peptide hype online and want a grounded overview—this is your starting point.
